Cookie Policy
How Syqnal uses essential authentication cookies and optional analytics cookies for product understanding, performance, and feature improvement.

If you want the broader explanation of how Syqnal handles personal data, use the Privacy Policy. This page focuses specifically on cookies and analytics controls.
What PostHog Records
PostHog is our product analytics platform. It helps us understand how the Platform is actually used so we can improve it. Here is what PostHog does and does not capture:
What PostHog captures
- Page views and navigation paths through the Platform
- Button clicks and feature interactions (for example, clicking “Request Verification” or opening a mentor's profile)
- Feature usage counts and frequency (how often features like Gap Analysis or the Smart BOM are used)
- Funnel analysis (for example, tracking how many users who start the onboarding flow complete it)
- Retention and re-engagement patterns
- A/B test and feature flag assignment (which variant of a UI you are shown)
- Session recordings — which capture mouse movements, scrolling, and clicks, and are used to diagnose UX issues
What PostHog does NOT capture
- Passwords or authentication credentials (all password fields are excluded)
- Payment information (Stripe handles payments; PostHog has no access to payment forms)
- Content of form fields in sensitive contexts (such as project schematics, BOM data, or personal bio fields — these are excluded from session recordings by default)
- Precise GPS location
Session recordings automatically mask input fields and sensitive elements. If you prefer that no session recordings are taken of your usage, you can opt out of PostHog cookies via your browser settings or the opt-out mechanism described in Section 5.
PostHog data is stored in PostHog's US-based infrastructure. EU data residency is available on request for institutional accounts — submit a Legal & Privacy Request if this is required for your institution's compliance needs.
What Google Analytics Records
Google Analytics 4 helps us understand aggregate traffic patterns on the Platform. We have configured GA4 with the following privacy settings:
- IP anonymization: IP addresses are anonymized before storage. GA4 cannot identify individual visitors by IP address.
- No cross-site tracking: We do not enable Google Signals, which would link Platform usage to your Google account activity across other sites.
- No advertising features: We do not use GA4's advertising or remarketing features.
- Data retention: GA4 event data is retained for 14 months under our configuration.
What GA4 captures
- Anonymized page views and page load performance
- Referral source (how you arrived at the Platform — e.g., search engine, direct link)
- Geographic region at country level only (not city or postal code)
- Device type (desktop, mobile, tablet) and operating system category
- Session count and duration in aggregate
What GA4 does NOT capture
- Your name, email address, or any other personal identifier
- Precise location (city, postal code, GPS coordinates)
- Content you enter into forms
- Cross-site behavioral data
How to Control Cookies
Browser settings
Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies through their settings. Note that blocking essential cookies will prevent you from logging in to the Platform.

Google provides a browser add-on that prevents GA4 from collecting data about your visits. Download and install it from: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
PostHog opt-out
To opt out of PostHog analytics and session recording, you can block cookies with the name prefix ph_ using your browser's cookie management tools (see above). An in-Platform opt-out toggle will be added to this page in a future update.
Do Not Track
We respect the Do Not Track (DNT) browser header. When DNT is enabled in your browser, we will not initialize Google Analytics or PostHog tracking for your session. Essential cookies are not affected by DNT as they are required for Platform functionality.
Impact of Disabling Cookies
The impact of disabling cookies depends on which category you disable:
- Essential cookies: Cannot be disabled without breaking Platform functionality. If you block all cookies from syqnal.com, you will not be able to log in, and your theme preference will not be saved. These cookies are strictly necessary for the service you have requested.
- Google Analytics 4 cookies (
_ga,_ga_*,_gid): Disabling these cookies has no impact on Platform functionality. You will still be able to use all features. We will simply have less information about aggregate usage patterns for that session. - PostHog cookies (
ph_*,posthog_session): Disabling these cookies has no impact on Platform functionality. Feature flags controlled by PostHog may fall back to their default values if the PostHog library cannot initialize, but all Platform features will remain accessible.
In short: you can block all analytics and product cookies with zero impact on your ability to use Syqnal. Only the essential authentication and theme-preference cookies affect Platform functionality.
Updates to This Policy
We will update this Cookie Policy whenever we add, change, or remove cookies from the Platform. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
For material changes — such as adding a new third-party analytics provider or changing the scope of data collected — we will notify registered users by email before the changes take effect.
Your continued use of the Platform after updates to this Policy constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.
